New 100kW podded motor with Kort nozzle
Fischer Panda
Visitors to this year’s show in Amsterdam will be able to see the new 100kW Fischer Panda Aziprop podded motor with Kort nozzle, which provides a new electric drive solution for the company’s 420V electric propulsion systems.
It has been specifically designed for commercial applications such as water taxis and smaller ferries with a displacement of more than 40 tons. The motor is fitted in a robust water-cooled stainless-steel housing and has three lip seals fitted on the seawater side. The winding is enclosed in a casting component.
The Kort nozzle (ducted propeller) reduces flow losses at the ends of the propeller blades, which has a positive effect on maneuverability and efficiency at low speeds. By bundling the propeller flow, wake can be reduced. This means fewer waves in harbors, and at river banks and lakes.
The Fischer Panda 100kW Aziprop e-motor with Kort nozzle can be pivoted and used as a rudder. The nozzle protects against a propeller strike on the riverbed. The company also offers a rope cutter option that can be fitted to the shaft.
The highly efficient 100kW permanent magnet motor is brushless and sensorless. The full 800Nm torque is available throughout the entire speed range. Even at lower speeds, vessels are provided with a powerful and responsive motor for maneuvering in and out of harbor. The motor operation is very quiet and does not require a gearbox.
The podded version can be fitted to a rotatable mounting system and can be installed in single- or dual-drive systems.
