Electric & Hybrid Marine Technology caught up with Sealence CEO Davide Lusignani at Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe 2024 to find out more about the company's new solid-state battery technology that is transforming marine applications. Lusignani explained that the lightweight, high energy density battery is receiving positive feedback from customers for its ability to enhance power and energy on boats.

Sealence also offers an integrated powertrain system, including generator range extenders and propulsion.

The focus is on an electric propulsion unit used in small ferries and submarines and the quiet Panda 5000i Neo generator at the Fischer Panda stand at Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe 2024. The company is also showing a 5kW solution for small sailing and charter boats.

As Marcel Schwarzenberg-Unruh, sales manager at Fischer Panda, explained to Electric & Hybrid Marine Technology, the growing market for these systems is influenced by legislation and environmental concerns. He also highlighted the collaboration between Fischer Panda and system integrators in building entire systems, along with potential refits or system changes based on project needs.

Andrew Ennever, head of fuel cell development at Ricardo, is on the company's stand at Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe 2024 to unveil a new fuel cell system. The system, which boasts high power density and containerization plans, is Ricardo's solution to the zero emissions challenge.

Ennever also talked to Electric & Hybrid Marine Technology about the company's engineering prowess and ability to integrate multiple stacks, the growing interest in hydrogen fuel cells and the uncertainty surrounding future fuel options.

Generator manufacturer Northern Lights offers a variety of products for the marine industry, including battery pods, air-conditioning and propulsion systems.
