At Electric & Hybrid Marine Expo Europe 2022, GS Yuasa, one of the world’s largest battery manufacturers, will be showcasing its newest battery types and technologies used in ships and marine applications.

GS Yuasa’s YBX Active batteries provide a perfect balance of power and service life. YBX Active Marine batteries for motor boats, sailing boats and other watercraft are perfectly adapted to life on the water. Effective power supply is critical for most operations including engine start, navigation, radio, GPS and lighting. GS Yuasa’s YBX Active range of superior-quality marine batteries incorporate advanced design features and specialist hardwearing components for marine applications. YBX Active Marine Dual EFB batteries are developed to meet the demands of starting and auxiliary power requirements. They utilize next-generation technology to provide greater endurance, more available cycles and faster charging.

YBX Active Leisure and Marine batteries for boats and other leisure applications are designed to provide dependable, stress-free power and long life. They offer a reliable, steady flow of current over a prolonged period. YBX Active EFB and AGM utilize the latest in next-generation battery technology to provide greater endurance, more available cycles and faster charging. AGM also offers maximum safety with spill-proof internal construction.

GS Yuasa’s lithium-ion cells have the optimal design for marine operations, which require highly efficient charging and discharging. They have high energy density and long life and have been installed in numerous high-profile, special applications.

The GS Yuasa lithium-ion LIM50EN batteries have been installed as the only power source in Japan’s first fully battery-powered, zero-emission passenger ship, e-Oshima. The high-capacity lithium-ion batteries (approximately 600kWh) provide motive power and supply power for communications, navigation, radio equipment and air-conditioning. They also play an important role in the ferry’s labor-saving automatic navigation function, which employs next-generation IoT technologies and has enhanced safety features. The vessel can be charged in around two-and-a-half hours and the battery system includes management equipment that provides multiple layers of redundant protection for the batteries.
