Wireless shore power
Wärtsilä - Stand E9070
In 2016, the Wärtsilä Inductive Charger won Product of the Year at Electric & Hybrid Marine World Expo. It remains the only available wireless shore power connection solution on the market. The product is now in service and the company will present details of results obtained during real operations.
Wärtsilä has successfully tested its automatic wireless induction charging system on a hybrid-powered coastal ferry. This is the first commercial ferry in the world operating with high-power wireless charging capability for its batteries, and the successful project represents a notable breakthrough in the evolution of plug-in electrically operated vessels. The tests were carried out on the 85m MF Folgefonn in Norwegian waters during August and September 2017.
